BIOINFORMATICS & SEQUENCE ALIGNMENT

Heterotrimeric G proteins interact with G protein-coupled receptors in response to stimulation by hormones, neurotransmitters, chemokines, and sensory signals to intracellular signaling cascades. We provide a robust computational method for finding new G proteins and their homologs using SVM based pattern recognition algorithm.

In addition, we have developed a greedy hierarchical classifier for classifying biological data. Building proper hierarchical multi-class classifiers are imporrant to have accuracy.

Moreover, we have developed sequence alignment algorithms using maximum contiguous subarrays. While it can be parallelized effectively, our method does not require inputting gap penalty parameters.
