Dr. Ramazan S. Aygun is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Aygun received his BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering from Bilkent University in 1996; MS degree in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 1998; and Ph.D. degree in computer Science and Engineering from University at Buffalo, State University of New York, in 2003.

Dr. Aygun served as a program co-chair of a leading conference in multimedia systems (IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia 2012), guest editor for a special issue of International Journal of Semantic Computing, editorial review board of International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management, and organizer of workshop on video panorama. He served on the organizing committees of 16 conferences/workshops and program committees of 34 conferences/workshops. I served as reviewer for 17 journals, 2 conferences, 2 (text)books, and external reviewer for tenure/promotion of other faculty members. He also served as a NSF panelist in 2007. He organized K12 workshop at Butler High School in 2012. He served as a demo co-chair for IEEE ISM (2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), IEEE Semantic Computing 2008, and IEEE Big Multimedia 2015; publicity chair for IEEE ISM 2009 and VLDB 2012; special sessions co-chair for IEEE Semantic Computing 2007; workshop and special sessions co-chair for IEEE Semantic Computing 2016, and systems & applications technical area co-chair for IEEE Semantic Computing 2008. I served on the program committees of DEXA (2004-2010), Multimedia Data Mining (MDM/KDD 2005), SIGMM 2005 Multimedia Information Retrieval, Multimedia Information Systems 2005, Multimedia Information Processing and Retrieval workshops 2005, ACM Southeastern conferences 2006, IEEE ICME (2006,2007), Workshop on Multimedia Data Mining and Databases (2007-2009), and IEEE ISM 2007, ACM Multimedia 2006, AxMedis 2006, ICEIS (2008,2013), MMEDIA (2010-2013), ISVC 2010, SIGMAP (2011,2013), IEEE Semantic Computing (2011,2013), and AICCSA 2013.
