"The Empire that Conquered the World
and lasted for a millenium"

On four separate occasions I have had the opportunity to visit Italy, staying in Rome on each occasion. It is a fascinating city blending the ancient with the modern. The first link below takes you to the text of a speech which I presented at several Toastmaster meetings and to other civic organizations. It is filled with photographs of Rome, many of which I made on the various trips. The next link is a bit of fun. For the last few years I have been teaching myself to read Latin. It is amazing how much of the English language is derived from Latin. This last section presents a few fun Latin phrases to impress your friends. So click a link below and let me give you a brief tour of the Eternal City.
