Quidditch
Standard Rules
Introduction
The game of Quidditch is the creative brainchild of
J. K. Rowling, the phenomenally successful author of
the Harry Potter books. We are introduced to
Quidditch in the first book of the series,
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
© 1997 J. K. Rowling, published by Scholastic
Books, Inc.
Quidditch, as played in the Harry Potter books, is a fast
paced game, played on flying broomsticks,
combining some of the elements of basketball, baseball,
soccer, badminton, rugby, and a free-for-all. Quidditch is
the sport of the wizarding world, but
in the Muggle world, sometimes referred to as "reality",
we can't fly on broomsticks or manufacture flying balls that
act as though they have a brain of their own ...yet.
So, we must adapt the rules for people who can't use magic.
This book covers the rules for playing Quidditch on the
ground, using unenchanted equipment.
