Playing the Bludgers
While the Chasers are playing the Quaffle the Bludgerers
are attempting to hit the opposing team's Chasers with the
Bludgers. The Beaters attempt to block the Bludgers from
hitting their Chasers.
Bludging the Chasers
Bludgerers attempt to hit Chasers with a Bludger as in the
Muggle game of Dodgeball. If a Chaser is holding the Quaffle
when hit by a Bludger he/she must handoff the Quaffle to the
closest Chaser on the opposing team. The Bludgers may not be
thown during a tip off.
Bludgerer Boundaries
Bludgerers must be outside of the playing field boundary
lines when they throw.
Retrieving the Bludger
Bludgerers are allowed to move within the boundary lines to
retrieve a Bludger. If two Bludgerers from opposing teams
are chasing the same Bludger it goes to

the one who makes
first contact with the Bludger with the hands. Bludgerers
may not interfere with play in any way while retrieving a
Bludger. The Chasers, and Seekers may not touch, pickup, or
kick the Bludgers. The Beaters, however may kick or bat the
Bludger in the direction of their own Bludgerers and away
from the Bludgerers of the opposing team.
Scoring with the Bludger
If a Chaser is hit by a Bludger thrown by a Bludgerer from
the opposing team the Bludgerer's team is awarded 1 point.
If the Chaser is also holding the Quaffle when hit by a Bludger
thrown by a Bludgerer from the opposing team the
Bludgerer's team is awarded 5 points and the Chaser must
handoff the Quaffle to the closest Chaser on the opposing team.
Bludging the Quaffle
Bludgerers may also attempt to hit the Quaffle and knock it off
course.
