Players

Quidditch is meant to be a co-ed sport with boys and girls, men and women participating equally on the teams. In Wizard Quidditch there are four positions on a team. These are Chaser, Beater, Keeper, and Seeker. In Muggle Quidditch the same four positions are used, but there is a fifth position added which is known as the Bludgerer.

Chasers
Chasers are responsible for passing the Quaffle and scoring points by throwing the Quaffle through one of the opponent's goals. There are three Chasers on a team.

Keeper
The Keeper is the goal protector and must try to block attempts to score by the opposing team's Chasers.

Beaters
The Beaters attempt to block the Bludgers from hitting their team's Chasers, and to knock the Bludgers toward the opposing team's Chasers. There are two Beaters on a team.

Bludgerers
Because magic is not allowed in Muggle Quidditch the Bludgers cannot be enchanted to fly and attack the Chasers on their own. Thus, the need for Bludgerers. There are two Bludgerers per team. They attempt to hit the Chaser, of the opposing team, who has the Quaffle with one of the Bludgers much like the game of dodge ball. There are two Bludgerers per team.

Officials

Snitchers
Because magic is not allowed in Muggle Quidditch the Golden Snitch cannot be enchanted to fly on its own, thus the need for the Snitchers. The Snitchers sail the Golden Snitch at random times across the playing field.
