This is a poem I wrote some years ago, with great apologies to
Lewis Carroll, the author of Jabawocky. Enjoy.

Programbuggy

© 1989, Dr. Rick Coleman

'Twas Pascal and the pseudo codes
Did sort and merge in the text
All ordered were the linked list nodes
and the algorithm indexed.

"Beware the Programbug, my son!
The type mismatched, the loop unended!
Beware the syntax err, and shun
The subscript range untended!"

He took his source code in hand
Long time the perfect hash he sought--
So rested he by the balanced b-tree,
and recursed awhile in thought.

And as in iterative thought he sat
The Programbug, with errs aflame
Came crashing through the local net
And dead locked as it came!

If, Else! While, Do! For I downto,
The object code went snicker-snack!
He linked it in and with a grin,
He went compiling back.

"And hast thou cleared the Programbug?
Come to my arms, my BASIC boy!
Oh, C.P.U., and Modula 2
He assembled in his joy.

'Twas Pascal and the pseudo codes
Did sort and merge in the text
All ordered were the linked list nodes
and the algorithm indexed.
