Responsibilities

Student Activity and Responsibility

Two students will work on the project, Ms. Ashley Plier and Ms. Jennifer Cuzzort. Ashley Plier is a computer science major. Jennifer Cuzzor is majoring in electrical engineering, but with many computer engineering courses. They will cooperate on this project. The current plan is for Jennifer Cuzzort to be more responsible for task 1, while Ashley Plier will be more responsible for task 2.  However, both ladies will work on both tasks.  Thus they will work together and will also acquire experience in both areas.

Faculty Activity and Responsibility

Both Dr. Zhang and Dr. Etzkorn will provide guidance to the students and will assist them in understanding and implementing algorithms.  Dr. Zhang will have primary responsibility for this work; however, Dr. Etzkorn will assist in all areas as needed.

Timeline

In this first part of the project (September 2006-November 2006), Dr. Zhang and Dr. Etzkorn will help students to understand the concepts and to design the algorithms. The second part of the project (December 2006-May 2007), the students will implement and test their programs. The best outcome of this project will be four frequent pattern mining programs: candidate-generation-and-test and prefix-projected pattern growth for both tasks.
