Visualizing Mobile Software

Understanding mobile software whether on mobile devices or manifested in mobile agents is a difficult task. This research addresses the fundamental challenges in creating visualizing of this class of software.

Advanced Data Collection

Monitoring is too difficult to use. In part this is because of the primitive state of data collection. This research investigates new advanced techniques for data collection.

Participants

Empirical Evaluation of Transactions

Transactions are a useful abstraction for monitoring and steering distributed systems. The overall overhead associated with them has been found to be low, in this project we will precisely characterize the trade-offs inherent in the use of transactions versus physical time.

Participants

Secure Computing

Investigation of new techniques of protecting the confidentiality of computing in a distributed environment.

Honors Project: NightOut

Completed Fall 2001 An undergraduate research and development project to construct an activity planner for the HSV area.

Opportunities

I currently do not have any open funded positions. If I do have open funding positions I will update this page to reflect that. If you are interested in research or working on a thesis then you may want to consider taking one of the special topic classes that I periodically offer.

If you send me an email about a position do not take it personally if I do not respond. In order for me to do a good job supervising students I must limit how many students I work with.
