CS.UAH.EDU > RESOURCES > MSDNAA SOFTWARE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. You need to (if you have not already) sign the MSDNAA Usage Agreement and bring it to the CS Department Administrator's office in room THN318. Eventually you will get an email in your CS email account inbox from E-Academy. You can not get the email sent to another email account.

  2. Follow the link in the email to E-Academy web site or you can click here.

  3. Click the "Sign In" button at the top right of the page, under the search box.

  4. Enter your username and password given to you in the email from E-Academy. Click the button to sign in. Remember, your username is your CS email address.

  5. Click the "Software" tab at the top of the page. You will see a list of categories on the left-hand side of the page. Only the "Featured" tab will have all the software titles you can get using the campus MSDNAA server. You may download any title you wish to have on the site otherwise, but the download time may be significant.

  6. Select a software package you wish to have. You will be presented with a list of software titles with a summary of what each does and the ways you can receive them. You can select either: Download, Mail Order, or "Campus Server Download". Click the "Add to Cart" button to put it in your shopping cart. The Campus Server Download will allow you to download it faster, as it is located on the department's network.

  7. Do you want more software or are you getting one title only?
    1. If you want more software, you can choose to continue shopping. If you do continue shopping, you will repeat the above. To choose this option, click the "Continue Shopping" button at the bottom right of your shopping cart.

    2. If you are only getting one piece of software (whether you are going return later and get more software or you are just downloading one piece of software) you might consider clicking the "Check Out" button at the bottom right of your shopping cart.

  8. After you have finished (whether for now or for good) you have to click "Check Out" button at the bottom right of your shopping cart.

  9. You must agree to the EULA for all the software you have in your cart. Failure to not agree means you don't get the software.

  10. If there is any extra instructions or messages, read the content, then click "Continue".

  11. Now you will see a Customer Information screen. Fill in the required information with a red (*) on the order page, then click "Proceed with Order" to continue.

  12. Review your receipt. It shows you all the software you have acquired.

Make sure to print the receipt page for your records, as it lists your software keys.

  13. If you are downloading the software from the E-Academy website, for each item on the receipt, click the "Download Options" link.
    1. On the "Downloads" page, click the link for the software title. This will open a popup window. Read the instructions on the popup window. Click the "Start Download" button to begin the download (if downloading from the website). Save it to a known location on your computer. This binary is normally a web installer or downloader and not the actual software, but it can retrieve an ISO of the software for you.

    2. Close the download popup window and continue to download each item on your receipt.

  14. Make sure you remembered to print your receipt. It has your keys if you need them. Also make sure to sign out of the website when you are done.

  15. If you used the website to download the software, please run the web download manager or installer that you downloaded. If you are on a lab computer, only continue with using the downloaded binary if it is just producing an ISO disk image of the software. Do not attempt to install software on the lab machines. You can't anyway.

  16. If you are obtaining your software from the campus MSDNAA server, click this link. Be aware that only the titles with the "Campus Server Download" option can be obtained by this method. The link also instructs you on how to burn ISOs onto a disc.
